WIT listed as one of Australia’s fastest growing companies

Western Institute of Technology (WIT) is a BRW Fast 100 company and is ranked 14th on the 2011 list.
The BRW Fast 100 list ranks Australia’s fastest growing, public and private, small and mediumbusinesses.
WIT is a private provider of vocational education and training (VET) tointernational and domestic students in Melbourne, Australia.
Its founder and Chief Executive Officer, Indian born Mr. Intaj Khan came to Australia on a student visain 1998 to study Engineering Technology (Electronics and Communications)in CentralQueensland University, Queensland, and graduated in 2001. From there he went on to work inthe telecommunications sector until 2006.
In 2007, Intaj entered the education sector and established WIT.It became a registered training organisation in 2008 and to this day focuses on providingquality education and training to both local and international students.
WIT’s growing success has been a result of its founder’s ability to introduce strong strategies focused on the building and construction industry. These strategies, which target an industry wherethere is a skill shortage in Australia, are what have made WIT a popular choice for students.
In 2009, WIT was the first private college in Victoria to offer Certificate III in Painting and Decorating tointernational students. This strategy of focusing on the building and construction industry has meant that WIT has kept growingdespite a downturn in the economy and has recently added the Diploma of Building and Construction(Management) to its product basket.
And as far as Intaj and his colleagues are concerned, this year’s ranking is something they intend to surpass in 2012.
