Aamer Rahman and Nazeem Hussain of Fear of A Brown Planet fame will be the Master of Ceremonies at the second Indian Executive Club Awards to be held on November 3rd at Peninsula, Docklands.
Aamer Rahman and Nazeem Hussain were recipients of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) Best Newcomer Award for their debut show Fear of a Brown Planet in 2008. In 2007, Naseem and Aamer both entered Triple J’s Raw Comedy and beat hundreds of other hopefuls to reach the Victorian state final together.
In 2010, Aamer performed in the Oxfam Comedy Gala televised on Network Ten, whilst Nazeem performed in the Cracker Night of the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala on the Comedy Channel. Aamer has appeared twice on “You have been Watching” aired on the Comedy Channel in February and March 2011. Naseem has also appeared as a panellist on ABC’s Q&A and on the 7 pm Project on Channel Ten.
“They are truly one of the bravest acts on TV and the stand-up comedy circuit with their fearless commentary on modern Australian society. It is great news that the MCs of the second Indian Executive Club Award Night are such a successful Australian act,” said Malvika Mehta of IEC.
“They are also renowned internationally on the comedy circuit,” says Ms Mehta, adding that it was a fantastic idea to have such a young and dynamic talent MC-ing the night’s festivities.
Nazeem Hussain is 27 and studied law at Deakin University. He is a youth worker and a Director of the Islamic Council of Victoria. Aamer Rahman is 29 and graduated with a law degree from Monash University. His childhood was spent moving between Australia and the Middle East.
The Indian Executive Club (IEC) Awards are a celebration of the achievements of community and business leaders of members from the Indian community in Australia. The awards recognise and appreciate the efforts that are unique to Indians as a minority. It is a testament to how well Indians in Australia integrate and contribute to the rich tapestry of the Australian way of life and that of its future.
