Not just a prolific writer about issues such as child labour, domestic violence, racism, cultural conflict, and migration woes, Preeti Jabbal, Melbourne Coordinator of Indian Link Newspaper, has also promoted innumerable local charity services, community organisations and individuals over the years and supported them in their endeavours.
Preeti, who says she aims to continue building stronger relationships between the mainstream Australian community and the Indian diaspora through quality journalism and proactive community involvement, was chosen the Indus Age Person of the Year (Female). Preeti received the people’s choice award from Professor Amitabh Mattoo, the inaugural director of Australia Indian Institute.
On receiving the award, Preeti thanked the IEC team and all those who supported her in her career, especially her family, who always stood by her. “A big thanks to all the voters who helped me receive this honour. I believe this a great honour especially because I received it from Prof Mattoo, a true community leader.”
