IEC hosts Australia-India networking event

The Indian Executive Club event “Australia-India Update” was held 9 May at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (Jim Stynes Room). This was the first networking function of IEC for 2014 and was done with the support of sponsor Bank of Melbourne. Guest speakers included Hans Kunnen (Senior Economist – Bank of Melbourne), Professor Amitabh Mattoo(Inaugural Director – Australia India Institute) and Mr. Jason Mifsud (Head of Diversity for AFL). Mr Vinay Sharma welcomed the gathering and spoke on the upcoming events of IEC for the year 2014 and announced that the IEC Awards for the year 2014 will be held on 8 November.

Mr Kunnen provided an economic update on the Victorian and wider Australian economy, and Professor Amitabh Mattoo discussed the relationship between India and Australia and the opportunities available for business. Mr Jason Mifsud presented on the AFL’s Multicultural Community Engagement initiatives.

Mr Kunnen discussed the global influences on Australia and on Victoria, domestic factors at work in Australia, Interest rates and the AUD, 2014 and beyond.

Mr Joson discussed Growth of the AFL multicultural program, How AFL and Clubs offer a wide range of experiences for fans to play, go and live the game.

Around 130 guests attended the event including guests from the Bank of MelbourneAFLMelbourne Cricket ClubPitcher PartnersAustralia India Institute and IEC members.
